Rams Keep Dynamos In Focus
A BATTLING performance from the Great Notley Rams saw them narrowly lose out by the odd goal to Focus Ferrers the runaway leaders of the Blackwater & Dengie League Osea Division.
Rams travelled to South Woodham Ferrers with a full squad of 12 players and all received significant game time against the league leaders.
The home side took the lead midway through the first half, but the visitors were constantly battling and managed to threaten on occasion with some breakaway chances.

Going in to the second half, the game remained a very closely fought contest, and there were chances at both ends, although the home side managed to hang on for the win.
Both teams left the field to the applause of both sets of supporters who agreed that they had witnessed a close and exciting game of football.

Saints Come Marching In Again
THE Maldon Saints Tigers return to Great Notley on Sunday for a League Cup fixture against the Great Notley Rams kicking off at 11am.
The match has been moved from the Rams normal ground of Notley Green, to the All Weather pitch at the Discovery Centre, due to the inclement weather forecast for the weekend.
Earlier in the season the two teams met in Osea Division League action with the Rams running out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Samuel Donnelly, Jamie McNeilly and James O'Reilly.
And the Rams will be hoping to find the winning way again after suffering two successive defeats in recent weeks.
The Rams will be meeting at the Discovery Centre at 10.30am ahead of the game, and on Saturday will be training at 9am as usual on The Green.

Rams Jammed By Clinical Radars
Playing in a league cup match against the Woodham Radars, the Rams were unable to capitalise on a number of good scoring opportunities, and fell foul of some clinical finishing from the home side.
The Rams lined up with Jamie McNeilly in goal, a back three of Harvey Ricci, James O'Reilly and Emma Root, a midfield duo of Tom McInerney and Olivia Hales and Matthew Norris up front.
However the Radars made the most of some indecision in the middle of the field to break away and open the scoring with a cleanly taken finish.
And it was two-nil to the Radars shortly after a series of substitutions which saw Jonathan Stoneman, Sam Donnelly, George Morris and Ben Rodley enter the fray.
In the second half, the Rams switched McNeilly and Ricci in goal, with the former adding some steel to the defensive and playing arguably his best 25 minutes for the club this season.
However the Radars again caught the Rams out with a sucker punch break and converted a third to secure the league cup points.
Rams boss John Stoneman said: "While obviously disappointed with the result I was very pleased with the overall performance. It is clear that the lessons we are learning on the training field about passing and vision are starting to translate to the match situations.
"It was quite baffling that on an afternoon where our goalkeepers had very little to do, we actually ended up on the wrong end of the scoreline. We had twice as many changes as the Radars, the difference being that they took theirs, and we need to show a touch more composure in front of goal.
"But the weekly improvements of the entire squad are there to see."

Rangers End Rams' Unbeaten Run
THE Great Notley Rams unbeaten start to the season came to an end when they lost 3-1 to league high-flyers Wilvale Rangers.
However for much of the game it was impossible to split the teams and at half time they went in all square.
The game turned on the insistence of the away team at half time that the match should be played with a size three ball rather than a size four. And with no rulebook on hand to confirm, the managers agreed to use a size three in the second half.
This played into the hands of the Rangers who began peppering the home side's goal with long range potshots being much more accustomed to the smaller size ball.
The Rangers grabbed two goals in the early stages of the second half and looked to be in control until Sam Donnelly hammered home from close range to narrow the deficit with five minutes to go.
Unfortunately the Rangers replied almost immediately and went on to control the remainder of the match.
Rams boss John Stoneman said: "I was 100% sure that we should have been using a size four ball, but the Rangers were insistent, and so I agreed to the switch at half time.
"But with hindsight that definitely gave them an advantage, and I am kicking myself that I did not have my rulebook in my kit bag that week. That lesson has now been well and truly learnt.
"It was a shame because the only difference between the two teams was the Rangers ability to hammer a size three around!"
