Rams Go Fourth After Radar Win

THE Rams moved into fourth place in the Osea Division of the Blackwater and Dengie League following a five-nil win against Woodham Radars in South Woodham Ferrers on Sunday.

The Rams lined up with Jonathan Stoneman in goal, a back three of Ben Rodley, Jamie McNeilly and Olivia Hales, Matthew Norris and James O'Reilly in midfield and Sam Donnelly up front.

The Rams opened the scoring early in the first half when skipper O'Reilly slotted home from a narrow angle, and the lead was extended by a clean finish from Donnelly.

Earlier in the season in the league cup, the Radars had managed a three-one win over the Rams, but this never looked likely of being repeated when Donnelly added his second and the Rams third before half time, following the introduction of substitutions Tom McInerney and Harvey Ricci.

Into the second half, Stoneman and McInerney switched position in goal and Norris moved into a central striking role which immediately paid dividends as he picked up the Rams fourth.

McInerney was then responsible for maintaining the away side's clean sheet with an excellent save from a one-on-one breakaway chance for the Radars, while Ricci also caught the eye with a solid defensive performance.

The fifth goal was claimed by Jamie McNeilly who rampaged forward from defence to hammer home from close range and complete the victory.

With other results going their way, it meant the Rams climbed to fourth position in the league standings for the first time this year.
